Chapel Street is teaming up with local art galleries during Provocaré to create an Artwalk for lovers of contemporary art and street art.
Over the two consecutive Saturdays of the festival, attendees will discover the art in the galleries and laneways which stretch along Chapel Street through Windsor, Prahran and South Yarra.
As the clock strikes 3pm, the surprises start the moment the event begins at MARS Gallery’s new rooftop sculpture garden, where guests will be treated to one of Darren Purchese’s (Network 10’s Masterchef guest chef) exquisite and extravagant sweet creations, and a complimentary refreshment that will have all, wide-eyed. Gallery Director, Andy Dinan will greet guests and guide them through the three levels of gallery space to view works by Jud Wimhurst, Troy Emery, Bronek Kozka, and an erotically unhinged video by Simon Pericich featuring a humanoid creature writhing in an infinite black night of falling stars.
As the art walk continues through the streets and laneways of Chapel Street Precinct you will discover Windsor’s version of Hosier Lane, and hear about the history of street art and why it has become a world-wide phenomenon.
And this is just a teaser of what Artwalk has in store to provoke, arouse, and challenge…
